Job Description

Position: Clinic Liaison #700232 Department: Health Services Reports to: Site Manager Compensation: $21.00-$23.16 per hour, plus $1.75 per hour Shift Differential Premium for hours worked between 6pm-6am Schedule: Monday-Thursday 10:30am-7:30pm & Friday 8:30am-5:30pm Status: 100% Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Union Probation: 90 Days Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Long-Term Disability Insurance, Employee Assistance Program, and 403(b) Retirement Plan Center's Mission: Building a world where LGBT people thrive as healthy, equal, and complete members of society. DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: As the nation's largest and most experienced provider of LGBTQ+ medical and mental health services, we help LGBTQ people lead healthier, happier lives, by keeping their minds and body well. All services are free or low cost. We're also one of the few Federally Qualified Health Centers in the nation with providers who specialize in primary care for LGBTQ people and with a research team working to advance the care and treatment of people in our community. JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Clinic Liaison ensures efficient clinic operations by rotating through key areas, including front desk, medical records, and phone coverage. Responsibilities include greeting clients, scheduling appointments, processing payments, verifying insurance eligibility, maintaining medical records, and responding to inquiries professionally. The role also involves training volunteers, completing administrative tasks, and supporting staff meetings and special projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adhere to and assist in the implementation of all business office procedures.
  • Rotate monthly to all departmental stations including front desk, medical records, and phones.
  • Greet clients at the reception area and during telephone conversations to ensure a welcoming, pleasant, and professional response to all clients and interoffice relations.
  • Front desk reception, including patient check-in, scheduling of appointments, and making preliminary assessments of clients to ensure appropriate client services.
  • Record all client payments or co-pays for services rendered and ensure accurate monetary transactions, daily balancing, and reconciliation sheets.
  • Maintain all daily and monthly schedules for medical, mental health, and social services personnel.
  • Check client eligibility with insurance carriers including completing Medi-Cal reservations for care (TARs).
  • Assist in maintaining medical records filing system, including routing charts to providers, accurate record-tracking, medical record filing, loose-sheet sorting.
  • Process record requests for outside entities in a timely manner while adhering to confidentiality practices and procedures.
  • Provide clinic phone coverage including scheduling and canceling appointments, placing appointment reminder calls, and providing general information about services offered.
  • Train and work with clerical volunteers as needed.
  • Perform daily administrative functions as assigned, such as word processing and general communications (voice, written and electronic).
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings including internal staff trainings as needed.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
  • A passion for the Center's work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
  • At least one year healthcare office experience preferred.
  • Able to work flexible hours including Saturdays and evenings.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a high-client volume environment.
  • Typing speed of at least forty-five (45) wpm.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, etc.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Bilingual skills a plus (English/Spanish fluency preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
