The Opportunity:Avantor is looking for a dedicated and experienced Sr. Mechanic to optimize our NuSil team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives. This role will be a full-time position based out of our Carpinteria, CA facility. You will have the opportunity to be responsible for assembling, fabricating, and repairing mechanical/electrical components and systems in accordance with specification and drawings. This team supports the innovation and growth objectives of major laboratories across the globe by helping with the integration of new technology solutions into their lab processes and operations. What we're looking for Education: High school diploma or equivalentExperience: 3-6 years in relevant industry with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, pipe fitter, sheet metal, machining, plumbing, and/or electricalPreferred QualificationsTechnical training or certificationsASME Section IX B31.3AWS D1.6 StructuralElectrical apprenticeHow you will thrive and create an impact Fabricate, assemble and install equipment or components using hand tools, power tools, and machineryRead and interpret technical drawings and specification to understand project requirements.Perform repairs and maintenance on existing mechanical systems and equipmentEnsure all fabrication work meets quality standards and safety regulationsTroubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues and implement effective solutionsMaintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocolsCollaborate with team members to complete projects on timeDocument fabrication process and maintain records of work performed.Physical requirements:Ability to lift and carry <= 50 lbsProlonged standing, bending and working in confined spacesUse of personal protective equipmentWork Environment Typical work in manufacturing or workshop settingMay require occasional overtime and weekend workDisclaimer:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
