Job Description

The Vice President of Sales and Marketing is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans that drive company growth and achieve revenue goals. This role includes leading the sales and marketing teams, providing guidance and training to the teams, managing budgets, assessing performance, and crafting long-term strategies to ensure success.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing the sales and marketing teams, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Strategize and implement sales and marketing plans to achieve company goals.
  • Oversee and manage sales and marketing budgets as well as internal operating budgets.
  • Monitor sales and marketing performance, analyze data, and apply insights to drive improvements.
  • Utilize data analytics to optimize campaigns, maximize ROI, and enhance customer engagement.
  • Leverage market research and consumer data to guide decision-making processes.
  • Enhance the company's digital presence using innovative tools like social media, e-commerce, and digital advertising.
  • Identify growth opportunities by analyzing market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs.
  • Drive market expansion efforts, including product launches, geographical growth, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate across departments to align sales and marketing efforts with broader business strategies.
  • Work with the VP of Operations to propose new products based on market intelligence.
  • Manage the sales and marketing side of new product launches and provide input into innovation pipeline.
  • Coordinate with the Controller and VP of Operations to define pricing and promotional strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Introduce innovative strategies by staying informed on cannabis industry trends and best practices.
  • Ensure all marketing efforts comply with state and local cannabis regulations.
  • Maintain full compliance with the PA Medical Marijuana Act.
  • Representing the company at community events and business meetings to foster visibility and goodwill.
  • Lead creative initiatives that reflect the company's values and emphasize its impact on the community.
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new product launches in partnership with Retail and Wholesale Operations.
  • Ensure merchandising, education and pop-up strategies are optimal for success.
  • Provide sales training to the team on an individual and group level.
  • Handle additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Sales or Marketing leadership, preferably in cannabis, CPG or lifestyle industries.
  • 7+ years leadership experience with ability to lead, guide, and develop a team.

Knowledge/Skills:

Leadership and Communication

  • Hands-on leadership with the ability to inspire teams; exceptional people and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, capable of leading and influencing without direct authority.

Strategic and Analytical Skills

  • Proven track record in brand development, campaign execution, and market expansion.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to simplify complex financial data for diverse audiences.
  • Adept at planning, troubleshooting, and solving problems; highly adaptive and thrives in fast-paced environments.

Technical Proficiency

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and capacity to master industry-specific tools such as MJ Freeway, Jane POS, and DOMO.
  • Practical knowledge of website design and maintenance.

Team Management and Development

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing budgets effectively.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with skills to coach, motivate, and drive teams toward success.
