Job Description

The MRI technologist is responsible for compassionate and appropriate patient care while performing MRI examinations under the direction of a physician to assist in the medical diagnosis or treatment of injury. Position includes work in the MRI department as well as Diagnostic Radiology. Duties include accessing, managing and updating patient medical records through Hospital Electronic Medical Record Information System; accurately accessing patient medical records; inputting physicians orders appropriately to patients records; reviewing documentation for ongoing patient care and communicating patient record with ancillary hospital services; maintaining patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA guidelines; practicing core competencies according to the ARRT Standards of Ethics; educating, interviewing, screening and explaining imaging and safety procedures to patients regarding the biological effects of radiation and/or magnetic field protection and safety prior to beginning any imaging procedure to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation; positioning patient on imaging table and utilizing immobilization devices as warranted for safety or to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body as requested by a Physician and following protocols developed by a Radiologist; administering contrast media orally or in intravenous administration according to Radiologist and/or Pharmacy guidelines. The role involves varied MRI & X-ray shifts, rotated weekends and holidays, and after hours MRI call. Minimum qualifications include Associate's degree or diploma from two-year College or technical school; current ARRT certification; current Montana State Licensure; current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association; MRI experience and additional certification such as CT; minimum of two years of Diagnostic Radiology experience; knowledgeable in MRI and Radiology procedures.
